Healing Art of Music Concert

Vinfen thanks the Longwood Symphony Orchestra, our event committee, sponsors, benefactors, and donors for helping Vinfen raise $75,000 at the Healing Art of Music Concert at Jordan Hall in Boston on May 7, 2016.

Hundreds of Vinfen supporters and music lovers gathered at New England Conservatory’s beautiful Jordan Hall on May 7 to enjoy the incredible musical talents of the Longwood Symphony Orchestra. Distinguished for its intersection between the arts and the sciences, the Longwood Symphony Orchestra is composed of health-care professionals who perform not only to combine music and medicine, but also to provide healing service to those in the community through symphonic sound.

This year’s event program began with Schreker’s Scherzo, a short and beautiful string piece by a composer whose talent was largely overshadowed by the breakout of World War I. The energetic third symphony of Roy Harris followed. After intermission, guests were treated to Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D Minor, with the lovely and talented Di Wu on piano. The piece’s spirited finale had the entire audience on their feet for a standing ovation. And as a special treat, Di Wu returned to stage to play a piece in honor of Mother’s Day.

This event would not have been possible without the support of our wonderful sponsors: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, RSM, Citizens Bank, Flip & Toddy Mason, Casner & Edwards, Morgan, Brown, & Joy LLP, Bruce & Rebecca Bird, Denterlein, DSCI Corporation, The Glaser Family, G. Greene Construction Co. Inc., Homeworks Properties Inc., Interior Resources, J & F Construction, LibbyHoopes PC, Mitz Levin, Travelers, W.B. Mason, and Stephen & Annie Wright.
