Health and Wellness Fair

October 26th, 2012

Vinfen collaborated with DMH, Bay Cove Human Services, North Suffolk Mental Health and MGH Department of Psychiatry to present a successful first annual “Fall into Wellness” fair, targeted for the clients of these organizations, on Tuesday, October 23, 2012.

Approximately 250-300 clients attended the event and were welcomed by Massachusetts Commissioner of Mental Health, Marcia Fowler, and Vinfen CEO and President Bruce Bird. More than 30 exhibitors, including the Vinfen Nursing Team, American Liver Foundation, dental screenings by the BU Henry M. Goldman School of Dentistry and Visiting Dental Associates of Massachusetts, Boston Police Department, MGH Center for Addiction Medicine, Healthy Cooking, Yoga, Reiki and Massage, filled the DMH Lindemann gym from 10 am to 2 pm, providing health screenings and information.

Free haircuts and manicures provided by Somerville High School Cosmetology were especially popular. Generous community sponsors like Pelham and Sullivan’s Pharmacies made it possible to provide free breakfast and lunch for all; the Hilton Boston Logan Airport and Whole Foods enabled participants to have bags of toiletries and snacks; and Propark America assisted with exhibitor parking spaces. Those who visited 8 booths and completed a “Passport to Wellness” were entered in raffles for terrific prizes, including gift certificates from Starbucks, t-shirts, and a bicycle from Wheelworks, donated by Pelham Pharmacy. Everyone had a great time and the planning committee, led by Vinfen, is already working on making it bigger and better next year!
