The historic State Room in Boston was the backdrop for the first annual Vinfen Fundraiser and Gala which was held on December 4.  Vinfen President Gary W. Lamson, who retired at the end of December, was honored for his long and distinguished career during the Gala.  Over $35,000 was raised for the Lamson Health and Wellness Fund, named after Lamson.

The fund was created because individuals with developmental and psychiatric disabilities die at a much higher rate than non-disabled populations.  Vinfen is already working hard on several initiatives to reduce obesity rates.

Master of Ceremonies Vinfen CEO Bruce Bird paid tribute to the many contributions by Lamson to the organization.  Dr. Jean McGuire, Assistant Secretary for Health and Human Services, DMH Boston Area Director Cliff Robinson, ADDP President Gary Blumenthal, Arc Director Leo Sarkissian and Association for Behavioral Health’s Vic Di Gravio also fondly recalled the many accomplishments of Lamson.

Staff, family and friends enjoyed the music of Jump Street, a Boston-area band.
