Martin Conference Center in the Longwood area of Boston and is free and open to the public.

Actor Joe Pantoliano, best known for his role as Ralphie on the HBO hit series, The Sopranos, will screen his documentary No Kidding, Me Too! a moving look at the sometimes devastating effects of depression.  Pantoliano weaves his personal journey along with others throughout the film hoping to communicate the important message through humor and direct dialogue we can remove the stigma and reap the benefits of a fully integrated society.  Pantoliano, also known as Joey Pants, will conduct a lively panel discussion following the screening of his film.

The Moving Images Film Festival will also screen The Soloist starring acclaimed actors Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey, Jr.  The Soloist is the story of Nathaniel Ayers, a mentally ill Julliard- trained musician living on the streets of Los Angeles who befriends Steve Lopez, a writer for the Los Angeles Times.  Inspired by a true story, Lopez writes a series of articles about Ayers and attempts to help him and others who are homeless.  Lopez must confront the hard realities and the strength of Ayers’ personal demons and the larger social injustice facing the people living their lives on the streets.

The third feature to be screened is Shooting Beauty, the inspirational story of an aspiring fashion photographer named Courtney Bent whose career takes an unexpected turn when she discovers a hidden world of beauty at a center for people living with significant disabilities.  Shot over the span of a decade, this film puts you in Courtney’s shoes as she overcomes her own unspoken prejudices and begins inventing cameras accessible to her new friends.  The award-winning photography program called “Picture This” will be on display at the venue during the day long festival.  Director George Kachadorian, an Emmy nominated filmmaker, along with individuals in the film, will conduct a panel discussion immediately following the film.

The films were selected because they present a three-dimensional view of the individuals affected, their struggles for self-advocacy and the challenges that the family members or loved ones face.

The Moving Images Film Festival exemplifies Vinfen’s belief that people with disabilities deserve to be treated with dignity and respect to enable them to live productive lives within the community.
