300 Vinfen participants in annual NAMI Walk
More than $1,500 raised to promote awareness of mental health issues

Vinfen was out in full force at the fifth annual National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Walk on May 31 at Artesani Park in Brighton. Approximately 300 Vinfen staff, clients and family members participated in the three-mile walk to increase awareness about mental illness issues.
Vinfen participants also raised more than $1,500 through donations from businesses and individuals in their local communities.
“It was a great and hugely successful event,” said Vinfen Senior Program Director Will Buckley, NAMI Walk team captain for the past three years.
Thousands of walkers from all over Massachusetts turned out on a mild and partly sunny Saturday morning. “The importance of the walk is to heighten awareness of the issues and confront the stigma associated with mental illness,” Buckley said. “As one of the leading human service providers in the state, we’re advocating for better services for our clients. We’re also striving to generate additional overall resources for all Massachusetts citizens who are affected by mental illness.”
Vinfen has participated in all five of the NAMI Walks. “We are so grateful for Vinfen’s continued support of the NAMI Walk,” said Karen Gromis, NAMI Walk Manager. “We appreciate their sponsorship and the huge team they bring every year.”
