Relief at Vinfen

Vinfen’s dedicated 450+ Relief staff, otherwise known as Per Diem staff, are an integral part of our workforce and are particularly near and dear to my heart since I began my own career here at Vinfen in 1996 as Relief. In my current role as Relief Pool Administrator, I meet every new Massachusetts Relief staff hired by Vinfen and give them a brief orientation into the way in which we utilize and value Relief here in our Company.

Many of Vinfen’s Relief have worked for us for more than 10 years in their roles, while many others have transitioned into part or full time positions within the Company.  A lot people like the flexibility the Relief role offers and it often works well for those who have other full time positions outside of Vinfen but want an additional part time job to supplement their incomes.

Relief staff provide flexible staffing when a program needs last minute coverage or ongoing coverage due to vacancies, leaves of absence, or vacations. Relief typically may work in either our residential or day program settings within our Psychiatric Rehabilitation or Developmental Services divisions where they provide support and care across a wide spectrum of services, including psychiatric conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and complex medical conditions.

While working in our programs, Relief staff have a range of duties that typically include administrating medication, implementing treatment plans, and assisting people with activities of daily living, such as household chores and cooking. They also strengthen our individuals’ connection to the community by providing transportation on outings, such as shopping and doctor’s appointments.

To support these modes of service deliveries, Vinfen is continuously looking to hire dedicated people who want to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.  We welcome applicants who have experience working in human services, as well as those who have licenses as Home Health Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants, LPNs, and RNs who can support the people we serve to achieve their goals and live more independent, productive, and valued lives as members of their communities.

Vinfen offers a thorough New Employee Orientation and ongoing employee training to provide Relief with the tools they need to effectively perform their responsibilities while at work.
