Local Business Supports Vinfen

Partnerships are the key to transforming  lives at Vinfen. We partner with people we serve every day as they work toward their goals. At times, we also get the chance to partner with local businesses to raise funds and awareness to better support the people we serve. In April, Vinfen was honored to be chosen as beneficiary of the We Care Wednesday initiative at gather here (https://gatherhereonline.com/), Cambridge’s only stitch lounge. Part sewing studio, part fabric and yarn shop, owner Virginia B. Johnson believes “there’s a maker in all of us just waiting to come out and play.”

A true member of the Cambridge community, Virginia feels that supporting non-profits is important and reflects the values of the people who shop, take classes and spend time at the store. Each month, the store donates 5% of their sales every Wednesday to a Greater Boston non-profit.  In 2017, the first year of the program, gather here raised $9,000, and they continue with the program in 2018. Vinfen was delighted to be the recipient of We Care Wednesday in April. We are greatly appreciative of this effort from a neighboring business. As Virginia notes, “This kind of targeted weekly giving is just another way we can focus our community-based business on doing good in all the ways we can.” We couldn’t agree more!

We invite you to visit gather here and show your support for the causes they call out in their We Care Wednesday initiative. If you are a business interested in supporting Vinfen, contact Ann Bausman at 617-441-1896 or bausmana@vinfen.org
